Ok, onto soaps! I did two delicious smelling soaps today. The first is Autumn Night. This one has the homy, fall scent of orange and clove. Divine. The first time I made this soap, I really thought it was just me that thought this scent was amazing. I was wrong. I sold out of this in 3 weeks. And it wasn't even 'in season' so to speak. It was mid spring. I had customers saying that they can't wait to buy it in the fall just to put it in their bathrooms for decoration and scent. I'm all about being frugal so it makes me happy when my soaps double as air fresheners lol. Here's this lovely beauty all ready to go:
I had wanted to put cloves down the middle but realized I didn't have any on hand. I would have put star of anise instead but they're too wide and wouldn't fit with my cutter. I'll do the cloves next loaf though.
The second soap I did is Fall Harvest. This has the telltale scents of fall. Cinnamon, star of anise, ginger, and woods blend wonderfully together. There's some vanilla in here too to round it off a bit. I've used this scent before but not in a soap so I was caught off guard when it accelerated on me. Thankfully, I wasn't doing an intricate design so I was able to work with it just fine. I'm definitely going to be either adding the fragrance last or not doing as much of a water discount. Here's the finished loaf:
I could NOT wait to cut these last night. Little tidbit: the earlier you make a soap, the earlier you can cut it. Remember that for when you're CPOPing. No more waiting til the next day! Of course, I do a water discount so depending on your recipe you may still have to leave it overnight. I've had some soaps harden so quickly I couldn't use my soap cutter to cut them after only 6 hours. Crazy. I know.
Look at my lovelies.

And my favorite bar, how awesome that I got triple hearts?! I think I may keep this one for myself. . .
Holy crap does my house smell like it's Thanksgiving already. This. Is. Awesome. You can only imagine my excitement that I get to do this again tomorrow for my other two fall soaps. Woop woop!
